為了回菲律賓探望病危的母親，移工April不得不帶上無人看顧的屏東客家村阿公，踏上返鄉之路。十餘年的空白成為她與丈夫、兒女之間的裂痕，隨著矛盾日益激化，為家人犧牲一切的她，越加徬徨心焦。另一邊，阿偉出獄返家，家中竟人去樓空，他嘗試修復與兄姊和曖昧舊友的關係，尋找生活的錨，過往卻如影隨形。兩條平行線，在一通電話響起後，展開了奇妙的交會……。
律師出身的導演唐福睿交出編導新作，鍾孟宏原創故事，描繪移工照護長者的台灣社會實況，以及更生人的生活境遇。台菲兩地雙線敘事，刻畫兩個家庭故事，勾勒鄉村日常肌理，也寫活人物血肉。兩座金馬獎得主劉冠廷與編舞家張曉雄演繹父子情，菲律賓演員安潔兒艾奎諾驚豔獻上客語演出，以動人幽默的筆觸，在跨文化脈絡下重新書寫「家人」的意義。
After years of hard work, April , a Filipino migrant worker, must return home with the ailing Taiwanese grandpa she looks after before her critically ill mother dies. Meanwhile, Ah-Wei, the grandpa's recently released son, comes home only to find the house empty. In these two parallel stories of return, they unexpectedly discover that coming back home isn't the end of their journey—it's only the beginning.
